Developing a Holy Obsession for the Word

Text: James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues (remains, stays, endures) in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

What is obsession? Obsession is the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image or desire.

 Scriptural observations:

  • Repetition is the seed for mastery. James 1:25, “…and continue in it…” Whatever you do repetitiously, you become masterful at it. Repetition is the mother of habit. Repetition births Habit. What is habit?  Habit is a behavioural pattern acquired through repetition. Habit is never our enemy, but a divine gift from God to help us achieve our goals quicker. Habit is anything you do twice becomes easier. It is a divine intention that we form a habit of remaining and abiding in the law of liberty, which is the word of God.

It is the constant abiding in the word of God that allows the word of God to be rooted in your spirit. Then the rooted word of God in your spirit begins to birth faith in you (Roman 10:17). Faith comes when you repetitiously hear God speak. Your faith is created through constant hearing on the word of God. Deuteronomy 6:6-10; Deuteronomy 11:18-20

  • Holy obsession is a divine instruction .God’s expectation of us is that we develop an obsession for His word and His presence. Obsession is a combination of persuasion, passion and practise. Obsession is a different seed than desire. Desire is something that you want. But obsession is something you are unwilling to live without. Obsession is the key to significance. You will never have a significant success in anything that has not become your obsession. Joshua 1:7-8

Examples:

Jesus was obsessed with the will of His father; He sat in the synagogue listening and asking questions from leaders for three days. “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?Luke 2:49.    In John 4:34,  “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work”. He says in John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

Paul said to the church in Corinth, “For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2

The Psalmist says, “I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:8).

Obsession is the elimination of alternatives and distractions. Obsession is the synchronisation of your focus, knowledge, energy, time, and money for a singular objective. God’s desire is that we develop a holy obsession for His word

  • What you choose to remember reveals what matters to you. Nobody forgets what really matters to them. God constantly scans our hearts and memories to identify what matters to us. Your memory is whatever you decide to celebrate. Anything you keep celebrating, you keep remembering. As you know, the purpose of celebration is to convey importance, difference, value of an event. Therefore whatever tops your memory list is the most important thing in your life. But God wants to top your memory list, and that is why we’ve been instructed not to be a forgetful hearer; but rather to begin to celebrate God and His word. When you start celebrating the word of God your memory becomes saturated with the word of God. You become grounded in your spirit by the word of God, whereby generating divine energy, peace and grace into your life.

Your interest and passion are revealed by the dominant subject in your memory. God wants to be the number one subject in your memory, for your benefit. Why? Whatever continues to dominate your mind is your future. God wants to be your future so that you can escape the unpleasant seasons of pain from the devil. H wants to be the dominant voice in your life. Your life is whatever you decide to remember. Your dominant memory is deciding your future. If resentment and anger are your dominant memory, you will create a future of pain and revenge.

Proverbs 4:20-23My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. 23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

  • The only proof of learning is ‘doing’. The only proof that you have learnt something is when it is done. Listening does not make you a learner; rather it makes you a listener. And a listener is not necessarily a learner. You become a learner when you start doing what you’ve been taught.

James 1:22 -24, “…But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was”

2 Corinthians 2:17-18, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

What matters to you in life? What is the most important habit in your life? What is your greatest obsession? Which direction have you focused your passion? What is it that dominates your memory? What have you chosen to celebrate? Where do you invest your most energy, time, and money? Whose voice is the authority in your life? Whose words have you choosing to believe with passion? Whose voice have you chosen to obey?

Ladies and gentlemen, until you develop a passion for the word of God, it is impossible to experience the fullness of the power of God in our lives. Your future will not be significant enough, until the word of God becomes your obsession.

The Liberating Power of The Word

Text: James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

 Foundation:

  • Jesus is the Word.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Revelation 19:13  “He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

  • The word of God is truth.

John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

Psalm 119:160 “The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”

Psalm 119:43 “And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, For I have hoped in Your ordinances. (Romans 5:5)

  • Jesus is the Truth.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

  • The Truth sets free.

John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Jesus is the truth that liberates. His blood has redeemed us from death and the curse of the law (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 3:13). By His righteousness we are delivered from the dominion of darkness. Colossians 1:13-14, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Psalm 119:92, “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

Psalm 119:50, “This is my comfort in my affliction, That Your word has revived me.

Jesus’ Assignments on the earth

He came to liberate us from death, sin and satanic oppressions.

Text: Isaiah 61:1:4

Psalm 107:20 “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

Acts 10:38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

1 John 3:8 “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

The truth that you know is the truth the will set you free.

John 8:31-32 “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Your knowledge of the truth is always proportionate to the freedom you enjoy. The knowledge of the word of god is the key that unlocks every gate of bondage, captivity and entanglement in your life. Hosea 4:6; Isaiah 5:13; Proverbs 10:21 “The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.”

Do you have a passion for the truth? Do you believe that Jesus who is the Word of God and the truth can sets you free from any bondage in your life? What is it that is holding you back from trusting Him regarding your situations? Which direction do you focus on for help in times of trouble? Who is it that comes to your mind whenever you are in crisis? Where have you decided to focus your confidence? Whose instructions are you willing to follow?  Who have you decided to believe?

Your reactions to the Lord Jesus, who is the Word of God, determine whether or not you will attract divine intervention for your freedom. Reactions determine destiny.

Now let’s look at a man whose reactions to Jesus scheduled his deliverance.

Matthew 8:1-3 “When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

What were the leper’s reactions to the Person of Jesus? Your reactions reveal your passion, your character, your interest and your faith? I study the bible to know God, but I study reactions to know people.

3 Powerful Reactions that Trigger the Miraculous

  • Pursuit. The leper pursued the presence and attention of Jesus. He came to Jesus. Pursuit is a proof of passion. Pursuit is a seed for discovery. Pursuit is a proof of trust. You are not divinely authorised to receive anything you are unwilling to reach for. Reaching is the seed for receiving.

Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

  • Worship. The leper worshipped. Worship reveals humility. Your worship is proof of your submission. When you approach God in worship, God documents your submissiveness towards Him. Humility is the seed for restoration and promotion. When you come worshipping you document your willingness to focus on the authority of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, instead of your problems. Worship is a focus corrector. It takes your focus away from the bigness of your problems, and aligns your focus to the greatness of God. Worship shrinks the size of your problems and magnifies the liberating power of God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

  • Belief. The leper believed in the liberating power of Jesus. He said to Jesus ““Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” He had no doubt whatsoever in the capability of Jesus to destroy his leprosy. Rather he highlighted the sovereignty of Christ and humbly requested for His willingness. Jesus sensed the aroma of his faith and humility and then touch him and said, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

What is faith? Faith is confidence in God and His Word (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is being fully persuaded that what God has promised in His Word, He is also able to perform it (Romans 4:20). Faith is the divine authorisation for the miraculous. Faith is the seed for divine intervention. The bible says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Faith authorizes God to destroy every yoke of bondage and captivity in your life.

How does faith come? Faith is birthed when you hear God speak. Faith is generated by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17)

Do you believe in the liberating power of Jesus Christ? Do you believe you can be liberated from sicknesses, from diseases, poverty, hopelessness, addictions, unbelief, doubts, inferiority complex, anxiety, depressions?

Are you willing to pursue Jesus? Are you willing to reach for Him? What is it that is hindering you from falling on your knees in worship?

What is it that is keeping you from surrendering to His mighty power for help? What is keeping you from believing in the lord Jesus for your deliverance and provisions?    Mark 9:23 “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24

If it is doubt that is sabotaging your faith in God, why don’t you ask Holy Spirit to help you and destroy the seeds of doubts in you through His Word?

The Law And The Life

(Part of “the law of liberty” series. Truth #4 “7 Truths about James 1:25)

Text: James 1:25 – The bible is a book about laws.

What is Law? A Law is a definite commandment laid down by any recognized authority.

The laws of God are the expressed will to God, and they are perfect and lovely all together. Psalm 19:7-11.

Another word for Law is covenant or agreement. Therefore, the bible is a book about covenant – covenant between God and Man. Remember, it takes two to work a covenant. One person cannot work a covenant. Both parties involved in a covenant must fulfil their part in order to release the dividends or the rewards of the covenant. That is why God does nothing on the earth without man’s involvement. He cannot even save you until you agree with Him. It takes two to work a covenant.

The bible is a book bout about laws – covenant – agreement. That is why we have the Old Testament, which simply is the old covenant, law or agreement between the creator and man. Also, we have the New Testament which signifies the new agreement, covenant or Law between God and His creations.

The bible is full of laws. For example, we have laws of Nature, such as the law of the seedtime and harvest, the law of gravity. We also have Divine Laws of life such as the law of the Spirit of life – Romans 8:2, The law of faith – Romans 3:7, the law of adaptation, the law of agreement, the law kindness, the law of order, the law eventuality, the law of focus, the law of protocol, the law of servant hood, the law of the seed, just to mention a few.

The entire universe is governed and sustained by the laws of God. The law that you know and obey decides the rewards you have access to on the earth. The covenant you know and work determine the favour you attract. The depth of your knowledge of God is always proportionate to your exploits and fulfilment (Daniel 11:32). Until you master the divine laws of life, you cannot master life.

Let’s quickly look at few things about laws today:

The OT – The Laws of Moses: the civil, the ceremonial, and the moral law.

The civil laws were for the government of the Jews as a nation. It includes the Ten Commandments. Although, These Laws were originally customised for the Jews, it has significantly influenced national legislations in many countries of the world in later years. Its moral, humane, and just spirit have characterized much code of human laws.

The ceremonial or ritual laws concerned the Hebrew nation’s forms of worship, sacrifices, priests, purifications, etc.  These laws were designed to distinguish the Jewish nation from the rest of the nations around them who did not know God, and to foreshadow or indicate what would happen in the dispensation of the gospel. These laws had been annulled by Jesus Christ through His blood. The ceremonial laws were forever fulfilled by the blood of Christ Jesus. Gen 3:24; Eph 2:15; Heb 9:1-28. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb and paid for our sins once and for all.

The moral law, De 5:7-21. The Moral Law was the revealed will of God regarding human conduct. The moral law was important because of its significant effect on human salvation. God Himself wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to Moses at Mount Sinai. . It was written by God, the Almighty on the conscience of man.  When Christ came, He fulfilled the law and released us from its curse (Colossians 3:130).

Although it is a divine expectation that we still honour this law, we are not under it, as a covenant of works to earn our righteousness. We are now under a different covenant – the covenant of grace through the blood of Jesus. Christ fulfilled this law on our behalves so that we could become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus said in Matt 5:17-18, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”  Luke 10:25-29 (an expert in the law tested Jesus)

The NT – The law of Christ

“For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.” (Hebrews 7:12)

Jesus, who is our High Priest, having fulfilled the old covenant, entered into a new covenant relationship with man by His blood and gave us a new commandment (John 13:34).

The entire Moral Laws (The Ten Commandments) were summed up by Christ in loving God absolutely, and our neighbour as ourselves. Matthew 22:37-40; Romans 13:8

The gospel has two parts; the gospel contains two forces: the person of Jesus and His principles – one is the life of God, and one is The Laws of God (the Bible).  One is the experience with Christ; the other is the expertise of Christ. Now, The Person of Christ prepares you for Eternity; His principles prepare you for earth. The person of Jesus creates your peace; His principles create your prosperity. The life of God guarantees your eternity, but His laws decide your prosperity – your fulfilment, the soundness of your mind, you influence in the world, your health, your healing, and your favour – the overall richness of your life.

That is why I titled today’s sermon as “The Law and the Life” – the laws of God around you and the life of God in you. Although both the Laws (the word of God) and the life are Christ Jesus, they accomplish different goals in our lives. John 1:1-3; John 14:6

Your reactions to the laws of God determine your favours and miracles. That is why few people receive everything that God has given to them. Many of us only receive what we are capable of receiving. We only receive in proportion to our knowledge of Him. The laws that you master and apply are the laws you enjoy their benefits. For example, some have mastered the laws of healing, while some have mastered the laws of prosperity.

The dominant purpose of laws is to create order.

What is order? Order is the accurate arrangement of things.

Now, God’s only passion or obsession is order. (Isaiah 9:6-7). For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

God loves worship, but that is not His obsession. If God’s only obsession is worship, everything he created will sing and worship forever. God loves soul winning. His desire is that everyone is saved ( 2 Peter 3:8-9),  but that is not His passion. If God’s obsession is soul winning, all the evangelists will live forever.

God’s only passion is order. The bible is a book about order. Consider the universe. Everything was designed by divine standards – the human brain and entire body, the oxygen, the distance of the earth to the Sun. the beauty of the universe.

The dominant purpose of order is protection – safety.

For example the purpose of traffic laws is order. And if everyone obeys them, there is safety. The dominant purpose of order is protection. Halleluiah!

Order creates safety. For example, your nose is not on top of your head for a reason. God is a God of order. The main purpose of order is to remove pain and create pleasure. Order creates safety. Order protects. Disorder births pain. Pain is a proof of disorder. Sickness, disease, poverty, poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, hopelessness are all disorders. They all defy divine intentions for man (1 john 3:8).

Now, God wanted to preserve the Hebrew nation that is why He gave them the Laws. Laws create boundaries. It provides focus.  It rescued from destructions (Gal 3:23). Proverbs 29:18; Deuteronomy 5:28-29

God sent Jesus to restore human disorder caused by sin. He also left us His laws (John 14:15), the bible, for the purpose of maintaining order throughout our lives. Christ came to restore our eternal order through His blood. Before His departure from the earth after the resurrection, He commanded us to preach the gospel and teach the world to observe everything He has commanded us (Matthew 28:19-20). In John 16:13, He promised the Holy Spirit who would guide us and lead us to the truth so that we can perpetuate divine order in our lives.

Order removes pain. Order generates instant pleasure. Order increases productivity. Order creates comfort. Order creates beauty. Disorder distracts. The joy in your life is proportionate to the order you nourish and develop in your life. The bible is a book about order. Your obedience to the laws of God creates perpetual order in your life. Every instruction of God is designed to increase order in your life and destroy pain. When you obey divine instructions, which is simple divine laws, you document your love for God – remember that that is how God measures your love for Him (John 14:15, John 15:10, 1 John 5:3) – then God showers His favour unto you. When you show Honour to His laws, you schedule favour, and where there is favour there is increase

Isaiah 8:20-22To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. 21 They will pass through it hard pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. 22 Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness”

Exodus 19:5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.”

Titus 2:11- 14“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

The bible is a book about Laws. The dominant purpose of laws is order. The  intention of order is to birth a pleasurable chapter and diminish pain. Obedience is the key to divine favour. Obedience is a proof of love. When you obey the laws of God, his instructions, you birth favour with God. And when God shower His favour upon you, you can be lifted from the pit to the palace like Joseph.

“This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome…” (1 John 5:3)

The perfectness of the Word of God

(Part of the series “The Law of Liberty.” #3 of the 7 Truths about James 1:25)

 Text: James 1:25

What does the word “Perfect” mean?

Definition (Noah Webster’s Dictionary): Brought to consummation or completeness; completed; neither defective nor redundant; having all the properties or qualities requisite (necessary) to its nature and kind; without flaw, fault, or blemish; without error; mature; whole; pure; sound; right; correct. Well informed; certain; sure.

The word of God is perfect. The word of God is complete. It is without any defects. The word of God is flawless, without fault, or blemish. The word of God can be trusted.  The scripture is God’s mind explained to men. The bible is the perfect manual for living. The word of God is the wisdom of God. The word of God is the inspiration of God. The bible says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The word of God is truth, and the reactions of ungodly men against the word of God confirm it. The word of God creates conviction. The word of God exposes evil. The word of God births in you a love for truth and a hatred for error.

The bible contains, 1,861 chapters, 31, 101 verses, about 800,000 words, and 8,810 promises. It was written over 1600 year- period by 40 authors who are inspired by God. It takes about 56 hours to read it through.

Three truths about the perfection of the Word of God:

  1. It makes us the righteousness of God. Remember, the word of God is Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3: 14). The perfection of the Lord of Jesus is imputed unto man at new birth. The imperfection (unrighteousness) of the world was cast on Him at Calvary, so that His perfection (righteousness) could become ours (2 Corinthians 5:21). You become faultless, having been washed with the blood of Christ by the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5-60).
  2.  It frees us from condemnation (Romans 8:1-4). Condemnation is a different seed than conviction. Conviction is of the Holy Spirit. Condemnation is of the devil. The purpose of condemnation is isolation, then ultimately destruction, while the intention of conviction is restoration. Conviction is divine strategy to draw back into intimacy with God. Whereas condemnation is a satanic strategy to destroy your confidence to approach your heavenly father.

In verse 3, the perfection of Jesus destroyed the condemnation of the Law. Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law (Love was the righteous requirement) on our behalf, so that we could be free from the curse of the law (Colossians 3:13), and be drawn back to God. Hebrews 7:18-19, For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, 19 for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

The perfection of Jesus has been imputed through faith in Him there is no more condemnation. The law of the Spirit of life has made us free from the condemnation of the law of sins and death. The bible says, “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”  The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

3.  It brings us into His love (John 3:16).  God is love. The bible says in Romans 5:8 that, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).  1 John 3:1 says, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”

  • God’s perfect love casts away our fear. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:18). Fear is one of the most effective weapons in the hands of the devil against believers. Fear is of the devil. Love is of God..
  • God’s perfect love transforms us from the dominion of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13).
  • God’s perfect love qualifies us for His divine inheritance, Ephesians 1:11 says, In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,”
  • We become partakers of His divine nature by the flawlessness of His grace, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Now, the purpose of the love of God towards us (His mercy), is so that we enter into grace where the nature of God begin to grow on the inside us. And what is the nature of God? The nature of God is love.

Hence, it becomes our duty to love God and love others. The bible says, “For Christ’s love compels us…” (2 Corinthians 5:14). Love is the only duty of man. That is why Jesus condensed the entire laws in one sentence, “Love God and love others”,

How do we love God? We demonstrate our love for God by obeying His instructions. Obedience is the only proof of love. God measures your love for Him by your obedience. Jesus says in John 14:15 “”If you love Me, keep My commandments.” The only thing God requires of man is obedience. 1 John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”

In John 15:10, the bible says, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”.

 Conclusion

The flawlessness, perfection, completeness, and righteousness Jesus, who is the word of God, makes us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Likewise, the perfect love, who is the Word of God, has rescued us from condemnation. We can now approach the throne of grace with confidence, (Hebrews 4:16). The power of the law of sin and death has been destroyed (1 John 3:8). Fear has no hold on us anymore.

Lastly, the perfectness of the word of God draws us into his divine nature, which is love. The completeness of God makes us complete in Him. We have been perfected in Him by His love for us. Love is the completion of the law. Obedience is the proof of our love. Obedience is the key that unlocks divine favour. Have you been blessed by His Word this morning? Halleluiah!
