“A proof of Wisdom Is the Willingness to Learn”

What is Wisdom? I have come across several definitions of wisdom through my learning, but my favourite is the one that I felt the Lord dropped into my spirit – which says, “Wisdom is the ability to discern the mind of God in very situation.” In other words, wisdom is the capability to recognise the very action God would have taken in the situation that you are facing had He been in your shoes.

I am a firm believer that there is no true wisdom anywhere else but in God. Wisdom is WHO God is. He is the Supreme Intelligence from whom all humans’ limited intelligences emanate. And without His wisdom in us – our best intellectual and conceptual paradigms are futile.

In fact, Jesus Christ, being The Word, is our true Wisdom according to 1Corinthians 1:30, “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” Christ is the Wisdom the whole needs.

On that now, how do we know that someone is wise? Certainly not by the quality of the school or university he attended, nor through the number of titles or abbreviations behind or after his name. It is not even through the brilliance of his IQ. Rather it is through his willingness to learn what is most important in life – which is to know the Will of his Creator.

As you know everything in life has a different value. The worth of your hair is different from the worth of your heart. Likewise, the value you place on your travel documents such as your passport is not the same value you attach to your phone book. The value of everything is determined by the harshness of the potential consequences of not having them. You can survive without having any hair on your head – as most people are comfortably doing. But how many seconds can one live if his heart is disconnected from his body? Not everything has the same value. And this is the biggest test of wisdom – to know how to place the right amount of values to different things.

It fascinates me that many intellectuals of world who think they are wise actually reveal their lack of wisdom by ignoring the most import thing on the earth – their Creator. Many deny His existence, even though the amazing order, extra-ordinariness and beauty of the universe validate the existence of a Supreme Being – from whose MATCHLESS Wisdom everything came to being. They draw their conclusions about The Word of God without having sufficient knowledge of it. A lot of this people are good people, but as the Scripture says, “Good people are not always wise.

The only proof of wisdom is the passion to know the mind of God. Because this is what gives this life a true sense of meaning and guarantees salvation from the peril to come. The bible says, “What good will it is for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matt 16:26-27).

What is your level of passion for learning from the Lover of your Soul – the One in whom we all live, move and have our being? Are you a protégé of the Holy Spirit? Do you have a passion for Truth and a hatred for error?

If you have developed a burning desire to learn at the feet of Jesus – through His Word, you have demonstrated a higher level of wisdom. You are simply smarter than many paraded scholars of this world. The knowledge of the HOLY ONE is the only evidence of true wisdom – and with it come, everlasting peace, unprecedented joy, fulfilment and ultimately eternal life.

“Healthy Obsessions Are Seeds for Success”

Success is the produce of positive obsessions. Great achievements are fruits of great habits that become obsessions.  Positive obsession is the only route to unparalleled significance. Whatever does not consume your present, cannot dominate your future.

Mike Murdock, one of the outstanding teachers in my life, says, “You cannot have significant success in anything that does not become your obsession.” Obsession is the incredible passion for something, without which you are unwilling to live.

Positive obsession is the only route to unparalleled significance.

Positive obsession is the only route to unparalleled significance.

Every highly successful individual is never without a success neurotic condition called obsessive daily self-disciplines (ODSD). Shaq O’Neal, one of the greatest MBA basketball players ever, threw 500 free-throws every night before going to bed. Likewise, Mother Theresa ensured she touched the life of at least one poor soul daily. She was totally consumed with a compassion for the poor on the streets of Calcutta. She became unquenchably obsessive to kindness.

In her words, Mother Theresa said, “I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” This is a powerful statement, loaded with several congruent applications. One of its applications relating to positive obsession is this; if you continue to love success principles, such as faith, goal-setting, self-disciplines, positive mental attitude, time management, honesty, etc., even though it is hard and difficult to turn them to habits, once you’ve pushed through the pain barriers and the habits are formed, there can be no more hurting, only more love and more harvests of your accomplishments.

What is your passion in life? What do you really want out of this life? It is critical that you identify what you want in life and what you need to do daily to achieve it. Then persevere through the principle of self-disciplines until positive obsessions are birthed.

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success,” says Napoleon Hill. Maintaining positive daily disciplines require patience, persistence and perspiration, but the moment the habits are formed you enter into an auto-suggestion mode, where you begin to perpetuate great success habits effortlessly.

The bible is a book about holy obsessions. It is the greatest success book. It contains over 8,000 unprecedented success principles for humans’ salvation, perfect peace and total fulfilment. If you make the word of God your passion in life, your fulfilment and success are guaranteed. Here is what God said in Joshua 1:8.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Whatever you desire in your future, you can get it sooner if God’s presence is your passion. Wherever you want to go in life, you will get there faster when you are lifted and secured by the wings of the Spirit of God.

The greatest healthy obsession in life, I believe, is the obsession with your Creator. It is from this single holy obsession that all other positive obsessions in your life will find their strengths and meanings.

Begin today on a journey of shaping your future by creating, in your daily life, positive and purposeful obsessions. The rewards will be worth it!

“Your Times in the Valley of Life Are Equipping You for Your Mountain Top Triumphs”

I got this wisdom key from the account of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17, when David could not use Saul’s battle gear to face Goliath, and had to go down to the brook (valley) to choose five smooth stones for his sling. The stones he gathered from the valley became highly instrumental in conquering Goliath above the valley (at the mountain top).

Adversities are the winners’ springboards to higher grounds.

Adversities are the winners’ springboards to higher grounds.

One of the core lessons here is the fact that David had to go down, before he went up to conquer. Connotatively, your times in the valley of life are times when it seems you are going backward, as opposed to moving forward or going downward instead of going upward. To you, these could be seasons of adversities, difficulties, discouragement, temptations, loneliness, separation, loss, lack, failure, or trials. But, like David, it is while in the valleys of adversities that we get equipped for the mountain top accomplishments.

There is PURPOSE in every adversity. Your current challenges are preparing you for your victories. Your trials are getting you smarter, more courageous and stronger than any obstacles that may stand between you and your destiny. Whatever problems you are going through today, there are hidden strengths and wisdom in them, necessary for your future triumphs. Adversities are the winners’ springboards to higher grounds.

“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit,” says Napoleon Hill.

There are advantages in your present difficulties. Therefore, instead of seeing your trials as destructive valleys, begin to see them as valleys of preparations. The key action here is to ensure you extract all the wisdom hidden in your current challenges. Adversity is intended to be analysed and not advertised. Scrutinise your ordeal. Extract the wisdom trapped in it. “In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider,” says Ecclesiastes 7:14. Your adversity has no power to break you without your AGREEMENT.

Always be aware of the Divine presence in your afflictions. God is always right there with you in the midst of your troubles. The Psalmist caught a glimpse of this awesome revelation, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). God will never abandon those who put their trust in His integrity (Isaiah 43:2), because He is a covenant keeping God (Psalm 89:34).

In your challenges, remain strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). Hold unto His words and positive confessions (Hebrews 10:23), be sensitive to the revelation of the Holy Spirit and live in an atmosphere of thanksgiving. With the Lord on your side, your triumph is guaranteed (Romans 8:31-32). He will lift you up from the valley of despair unto the mountain top of joy. God will work all things together for your good because you love Him (Romans 8:28).

Stay strong in Him!

“Your Greatest Fulfilment and Satisfaction Will Come Not From What You Receive, But From What You Give”

True fulfilment lies in what you give, and not in what you recieve.

True fulfilment lies in what you give, and not in what you receive

Fulfilment is the product of recognising and executing one’s divine purpose on the earth. It is what you feel when you are at the centre of God’s assignment for your life. Everything on the earth was built to give out something that benefits something else. An orange tree is never fulfilled unless it produces and gives out oranges.

Likewise, it becomes impossible for any man to know true fulfilment unless he gives away the exact gifts God has deposited in him to distribute to others. Total satisfaction can only be achieved when you are doing what God designed you to accomplish. Your fulfilment in life is directly connected to what you give to life, and not what life gives to you. No wonder the Bible says, “’It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35).

It is not self-actualisation that brings true fulfilment, but God-actualisation. What is God-actualisation? It simply identifying and fulfilling God’s purpose for creating you. No material thing of this world can bring fulfilment. Ask those who are extremely rich in material things. They will tell you that wealth never satisfies.

Total satisfaction only comes when you dedicate your soul to carrying out God’s purposes for you on earth. The bible says “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? (Matt 16:26).

Discovering and Pursuing God’s agendas for your life are more important, profitable and far more fulfilling than accomplishing your personal earthly goals. True success is the accomplishment of what you were created to do here on earth.

God planted you on earth as a seed for impartation. You were fully equipped with precious talents when you arrived on earth. Contrary to general belief, you never arrived empty-handed; but loaded with divine deposits for the benefit of humanity. God’s intention is that you empty all of you into your world before you return to Him at the end of your earthly seasons.

You were born a giver. God shaped you to be like the ocean that is always willing to supply as much water as needed to anyone or thing that needs it. There is no one on this planet that has nothing to give to his environment. The problem only lies on our failure to recognise the incredible wealth of gifting we have been given for the profit of others.

Any talent that remains unrecognised will also remain unused. Therefore, it is important to identify what you’ve been giving to share with others in order to create your life fulfilment. Interrogate yourself. What unlocks your compassion? Whose pain do you feel? It is the homeless or molested wives or abused children or injustices or racism or alcoholism or addictions?

Furthermore, what do you love doing? What comes natural to you? What unleashes your joy? Do you love singing, praying, encouraging, painting, caring, teaching, or organising? There is a passion God has placed in you that someone needs. You are a solution to someone’s problems. Instead of seeking what you can get out life, begin to identify what you can give to life, as this is the path to true fulfilment.

When you become a giver, you do not only get true fulfilment, you also activate the divine law of seedtime and harvest in your life (Genesis 8:22). A true giver never lacks. That is why the ocean never worries about giving itself away; because it knows that whatever flows out from it will also, in time, flow back towards it. Choose to become a river of water that refreshes everything on its path. Refuse to become a stagnant lake which keeps all its goodness to itself and eventually becomes undesirable, but a spring of water which dispenses nourishments unto its environment.

Ask yourself every day, “Who can I be a blessing to today?” You were engineered as a reward to your generation. This is the purpose of God for your life. Begin today. Use your talents, energy, time, experiences, opportunities, influence, compassion and knowledge to help others succeed. This is the secret of total satisfaction and fulfilment in life.

Blessings,

Wale
